I am pleased to announce that the District's positive budget certification by the Yolo County Office of Education is a result of prudent fiscal management coupled with ongoing cost savings programs such as the Solar Array Project at River City High School. As a result, we have been able to ensure that K-3 class sizes remain at a 20:1 student to teacher ratio. While many school districts across the region are increasing class sizes, the Washington Unified School District has placed a high priority on maintaining ideal class sizes for the District's students.

To ensure continued financial prudency and positive budgeting, the Washington Unified School District is looking ahead at much-needed deferred maintenance and safety improvements at each of the school sites to ensure that the District is providing the best education in modernized and safe facilities. The District is inviting parents and community members to discuss their priorities for these projects at two community meetings:

May 14th at 5:30 p.m. at Southport Elementary Schoool

May 17th at 5:30 p.m. at Riverbank Elementary School

For additional information, please do not hesitate to contact my office: (916) 375, 7604, ext. 1236.

Thank you.
